All
the CDs on this site were digitally re-mastered from cassettes,
8-Tracks tapes and 2inch reel-to-reel tapes. Each CD is "spliced"
(ability to skip tracks) but are played in a continuous/non-stop
format, such as today's retail mixed tapes and CDs. All offering
digital quality playback. A process that took over two years
of hit and miss to find the perfect quality.
The
founder of movibesonline was
born in Kingston, Jamaica at Jubilee Hospital.
He spent many years of his life growing in areas such as Franklin
Town, Waterhouse and Edge Water, where music seem to be more
accessible than food. There, he was schooled by his elders
about the differences between mainstream reggae and live ghetto
music. The
real sounds that focused on revolution, suffering, faith,
empowerment and talent.
Thus
began the a twenty year quest to collect and listen to most,
if not all, the greatest live dancehall events that Jamaica
produced from the late 70's to today.
These
sounds were not played on the radio at the time, they were
considered rebellious by the authorities and was mainly associated
with the Rastafarian movement in Jamaica.
Since
then, the music has crossed global boundaries and has claimed
a strong foothold on all continent. Widely accepted in Germany,
London, Japan, America, Canada, Egypt, Switzerland, among
others.
Today
it has become some of the most sought after genre of music
globally, specifically the 70's, 80's and early 90's.
movibesonline
takes special care in the music selected for this website.
We do not promote violence in anyway, nor do we choose to
support titles that have "gun talk", unless they
speak out against it. This is all about accessibility to conscious
"live" foundation music.
So take comfort in what we have to offer, we know our music.
